New Releases and Awards
The big excitement this spring is the long-awaited release of our estate-grown 2008 Riesling. Riesling is a wine that is individual to each vineyard. Grapes grown at Smickburg yield a delightfully aromatic wine of distinctive "northern" character. Our 2007 Cabernet Franc is estate-grown, oak-aged, with a medium body. We also just released Concord, Niagra, and an estate-grown Apple wine.

In March, Windgate wines won three awards at the Pennsylvania Wine Association: Two silver awards went to our Shamokin Red and Red Raspberry, and a Bronze went to our Blueberry wine. (See our list of wines for sale)

New Courses
This year, we're offering two winemaking courses for winemakers of all levels. The first course, "Goof-proof Red and White Home Winemaking," begins May 9th. In June, we'll offer "Rosé and Fruit Winemaking," as well as wine growing tips and techniques.

Indiana Mall Open Year-Round
Thanks to your continued patronage, Windgate has opened year-round in the Indiana Mall, opposite JC Penney's. The store has a full selection of wine baskets, wine racks of many shapes and sizes, picnic totes, decanters, and other unique gifts.
